The following article is a repost of the “Great Tea Survey”, the beginning of Teelanovela’s Call to “Take A Time Out”. It gained such an immense popularity that eventually Time Out Magazine was founded to further inquire into relaxation and easy living. enjoy!

While communication increases through digital connections, it is not always easy to get a grasp of the human being “Behind the Post”. So we set out on the endless seas of tweets and asked: What’s your Favorite Way To Take a Time Out?

ambienteer

I’d be playing with my son, painting abstract art using acrylics, baking bread or tending to my little organic veg/fruit patch.

Marijuana Mamas! – Is Pot the New Pilates?

ashplantmomlogic.com | img by oswaldo

Gina Kaysen Fernandes: A new wave of reefer madness is sweeping suburbia — but it’s not just teenagers who are lighting up. Middle-aged, middle-class soccer moms are smoking pot … a lot. These women aren’t stoners: they’re teachers, lawyers, and, perhaps, even your neighbor who prefers puffing a joint to sipping chardonnay.

“Marijuana is the magic in my life that helps me unwind, stay sane, and have more energy,” says Sonia, a 24-year-old mother from Los Angeles. Working full-time as a restaurant manager leaves Sonia feeling stressed out and drained at the end of the day. She smokes once or twice daily to relax. “I have a stressful job, it’s something that helps me wind down so I don’t take out my frustration on my husband or my child.”
Sonia became a mother at the age of 22 and suffered from some depression. She turned to marijuana to help curb the baby blues. A doctor later diagnosed Sonia with anxiety and wrote her a prescription for the herbal remedy. Sonia gets her stash from a medicinal marijuana clinic and takes comfort in knowing the pot she smokes is legal and high quality… read more

Unplug and Recharge: Sky Gazing

Yesterday morning I got up early and went for a walk. There’s a beautiful hiking trail close to my house here in Boulder. It wraps up the back of a mountain, and as you ascend up the trail you get a fuller and fuller view of the city below and the landscape in the distance.

During that particular outing, my mind was pretty busy sorting through details of my upcoming move, rehashing a heated conversation that I had had the night before, and believing my inner dialogue of doubt around a big writing project I’m working on …read more…

Slow Down … to Enjoy Life

relaxarticle by zenhabits.net | image by Zunami

I don’t usually read forwarded email, but I received one today that caught my attention. It was written by someone who works at Volvo in Sweden, and he mentions how any project in the company “takes 2 years to be finalized, even if the idea is simple and brilliant. It’s a rule.”

Apparently the fast-paced global corporate world, focused on immediate results, “contrasts greatly with the slow movements of the Swedish. They, on the other hand, debate, debate, debate, hold x quantity of meetings and work with a slowdown scheme. At the end, this always yields better results.”

He relates the following story:

The first time I was in Sweden, one of my colleagues picked me up at the hotel every morning. It was September, bit cold and snowy. We would arrive early at the company and he would park far away from the entrance (2000 employees drive their car to work). The first day, I didn’t say anything, either the second or third. One morning I asked, “Do you have a fixed parking space? I’ve noticed we park far from the entrance even when there are no other cars in the lot.” To which he replied, “Since we’re here early we’ll have time to walk, and whoever gets in late will be late and need a place closer to the door. Don’t you think? Imagine my face.

A Guide to Creating a Minimalist Home

What a Minimalist Home Looks Like
This would vary, of course, depending on your taste and how extreme of a minimalist you want to be. I am a minimalist, but not to any extreme. But here are some characteristics of a minimalist home:

Minimal furniture. A minimalist room would only contain a few essential pieces of furniture. A living room, for example, might only have a couch, another chair or love seat, a coffee table, a minimalist entertainment stand (not a huge one with a bunch of shelves), a television, and a couple of lamps. It could even contain less (couch, chairs, and coffee table, for example). A bedroom might have a simple bed (or even just a mattress), a dresser, and perhaps a night stand or book shelf. .. read more…

    balancing

article via Times Online |  img by neurmadic aesthetic

How do you achieve balance between work and family? Scale back, adjust your expectations, be flexible, goes the accepted thinking. But experts at a recent conference at Madrid’s IESE Business School have better ideas.
