After our review of "The Curious Case of
Benjamin Button" here's another recommendation of a great movie that deals with the pains & pleasures of growing older, in this case, even
amplified through the "throw-away" surrounding of L.A.'s Hollywood. A teenager whose free-time consists of playing "grand theft auto" ( no, not
the game but the real deal! ) decides to make a movie for the high-school film contest. Not knowing anything about films but just watching
them, our protagonist is in need of a mentor, and he meets his match in the booze-lovin' dispirited Hollywood fossil "Flash Madden", played by
Christopher Plummer. Between these poles of "young" and "old" the movie weaves a colorful and brilliantly told story of friendship & creativity
beyond all age, gender or preferences.
